Congratulatons, to Capital High School's newest National Board Certified Teacher, Mrs. Denise Green!

Approximately 3% of teachers in the United States are National Board Certified.  The certificate is based on Five Core Propositions:

Proposition 1: Teachers are committed to students and  their learning.

Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students.

Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning.

Proposition 4: Teachers think systematically about their practice and learn from experience.

Proposition 5: Teachers are members of learning communities.

The process is long, challenging, and has four components.  Teachers must pass a written assessment of content knowledge, reflect on student work samples, video and analyze teaching practice, and show documented impact and accomplishments as a teaching professional.  Congratulations, Mrs. Green.  Capital High School is proud of you!

Thank you,

Susan M. Young
