Our School-Based Health Clinic (SBHC) is open Monday through Friday. We are located in Room 158 at the end of the Science Wing. We are closed any time school is closed. Otherwise, there is always someone present Monday through Friday. Any changes to that or closures for meetings will be communicated with the front office and posted on the SBHC door.
Since we are located inside the school building with no external entrance, we can only see students and staff at CHS. Yes – we see staff, too! If you are sick or need anything, please do not hesitate to stop by. We offer medical and behavioral health services (counseling/therapy). We can offer any of the services you can receive at a doctor’s office, clinic, or urgent care! Our goal is to work with the school to assist in keeping all students and staff healthy and in class/at work.
Our slogan is ‘Healthy Kids Learn Better’ and we strive to help maintain/improve all students' health so that they can best learn in the classroom. Medical visits may include sick visits, care of injuries, well-child exams, vaccine administration, and sports physicals, to name a few. Our Behavioral Health services also encompass a wide array of services, including depression, anxiety, anger, family issues, relationship issues, problems in school – behavior, attendance issues, academic issues, and the list goes on.
Britney Bowen, Certified Medical Assistant, is in the SBHC Monday – Friday. She can schedule staff/students daily and is the voice/face of our SBHC. She is a true advocate for our students at the school and is always available to answer any questions you may have.Both of our Providers cover CHS and WSMS.
When one is at CHS, the other is typically at WSMS.
Dawn Grigsby, Family Nurse Practitioner, is the Medical Provider and is present at CHS on Monday/Wednesday/Friday.
Derrick Gibson, Licensed Therapist, is our Behavioral Health Provider and is present at CHS on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday.
