Academy Day 2025
Each year, West Virginia students prove they are more than capable of meeting the rigorous challenge of attending and graduating from these prestigious institutions. In 2025, graduates from across the state—including those from Berkeley, Cabell, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Mercer, Morgan, Ohio, Putnam, Randolph, Wayne, and Wood counties—are beginning careers in military service, engineering, medicine, and other fields after completing their academy journeys.
The key to success is early preparation and awareness. Students interested in U.S. Service Academies or ROTC scholarships are most successful when they begin planning coursework and extracurricular activities early in middle and high school. Just as important, families and school staff play a critical role in providing support during the application process.
Charleston Area Dates
To help students and families explore these opportunities, Academy Day 2025 will be held:
📅 Saturday, September 20, 2025
⏰ 2:00 p.m.
📍South Charleston High School, 1 Eagle Way, South Charleston, WV, 25309
No registration is required.
This event welcomes students, parents, guardians, and school officials to learn more about the five U.S. Service Academies:
U.S. Air Force Academy
U.S. Coast Guard Academy
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
U.S. Military Academy (West Point)
U.S. Naval Academy
Representatives from local ROTC programs will also be available to discuss scholarship opportunities. Attendees can participate in mock interviews and hear directly from a representative of the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board to better understand the application process.
In addition, representatives will be ready to answer questions about the educational, physical, and recreational requirements for attending a service academy or obtaining an ROTC scholarship. Our office will also provide guidance on the nomination process, a critical step in earning an academy appointment.
